Our business model is designed to help our global customers maximise the value of their network assets by extending the lifetime of critical hardware and enabling clear economic and environmental efficiencies. Alongside our support for telecom network operators, we also offer support for OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) who prefer to repair locally instead of incurring the costs and environmental impact of shipping equipment back to their own repair centres. We’re proud that our partnerships with OEMs and operators continue to grow.
The expertise held across our 9 global facilities makes it easy and seamless for our clients to repair, reuse and deploy used telecom networking equipment rather than buying new unnecessarily.
Delving down to the component and circuit board level, our engineers frequently develop new test beds, reference systems, and staging areas to support our growing customer base – at a time when it’s vital for the wider telecom community to demonstrate its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and ensuring ESG traceability.
Often we find that OEMs cannot support a growing back catalogue of equipment, particularly those that it has inherited as a result of mergers and acquisitions. This means that the telecom operator will commonly find that it wishes to continue using a product after the end of support or last time buy has been announced.
Telecom products are kept in service for much longer than was originally intended, for example SDH/ SONET (synchronous digital hierarchy a transmission method based on time division multiplexing) is still used widely today since operators value its reliability
OEM support is no longer cost effective and more economic business models are sought to provide the same service but without compromising on quality.
Here at TXO, we offer a comprehensive test and repair service for telecom network operators and OEMs. Our engineers have many years of experience working across all of the main disciplines including optical, IP and radio (for both microwave and RAN technologies), as well as specialising in power equipment for all the top brands. Our focus is to extend the lifespan of telecom networks, prioritising both sustainability and financial efficiency.
We are constantly developing new test beds and adding extra platform testing and staging capabilities within our labs to support our growing customer base, so you can deploy new networks or extend the life of existing ones.
Our business is centred on making it easy for our customers to repair, reuse, and deploy telecom networking equipment, freeing up precious time so you can run your networks efficiently.
At TXO, our telecom repair service starts with having a sound knowledge of the operation of the equipment in scope. Before a repair is carried out, the appropriate reference model is installed in our repair centre and set up to closely match the customer’s environment. This allows for the accurate diagnosis of faults prior to the repair being carried out. After the repair, the card is retested to ensure it is functioning as expected. For traffic cards, this means using an appropriate signal to confirm that traffic can flow as expected over a suitable period of time.
Our facilities include BGA rework stations. In electronics, rework is a term that describes the installation or de-installation of components such as IC’s on a printed circuit board. This piece of equipment is a prerequisite to deliver the type of circuit board level repairs required for telecom equipment repair. In our experience, some repair centres declare a board beyond economic repair without taking the time and effort to understand the defect.
At TXO, we repair a much higher proportion of parts for our clients and it means we’re able to maintain one of the lowest BER rates in the industry, at less than 5%.
Sustainability, the environment, and the circular economy are now mainstream concerns and widely accepted as essential for responsible business practices. At TXO, these principles are at the heart of what we do. We focus on preserving resources, extending product life, and keeping equipment out of landfills. Repair is a key part of the telecom supply chain because it ensures the longevity and sustainability of essential network components.
In addition to the repair in hand, we’re proud to enhance our offering with several pre-emptive actions that use data to make smart decisions about the repairs we carry out. This approach not only maximises the value of our clients’ assets but also aligns with their sustainability goals by extending the lifecycle of equipment and minimising waste.
For clients dealing with high volumes of repairs, it’s common to find that not all equipment sent to us is faulty. Our screen & clean service is specifically designed to address this. Upon receipt, each piece of equipment is carefully screened to identify which units require repair or refurbishment. Importantly, we also identify and separate units that, after comprehensive testing, are determined to be in full working order. Find out more about our screen and clean service.
Here we’ll replace components on the board that are known to be susceptible to failure over time. This proactive action can reduce the need for maintenance truck rolls which can greatly improve network health, subscriber satisfaction and economic performance. Find out more about our component level repair service.
Receive replacement products without waiting for us to receive the defective items for repair. Combine your repair with inventory and failure rate dimensioning or go for a straight-up advanced replacement swap from stock. The choice is yours.
In other cases, we can assist the operator by introducing retrofitted modifications to overcome persistent defects caused by water or pest ingress to the equipment.
Test and repair is just one element of our circle of value for how we are enabling the circular economy, by maximising environmental and financial benefits, to extend the lifecycle of telecom networks globally.
Our list of test and repair capabilities is growing all the time, so please get in touch with your requests.Search:
